You Are the Tavern

You Are the Tavern is a single-player journaling experience that puts you in the role of the Tavern, warm, welcoming, place, one that endures throughout. You are light, warmth, the smells of good food, and the comfort of companionship. You watch over loves, griefs, angers, and forgivenesses. You hold the stories of the people of your town. You give them space to reflect on their lives, to escape their lives, to live.

The stories people tell shape their existences. Stories are reminders of who they are, where they come from. Stories tell them who they could be, where they could go. Stories unite and divide, bring love and hate, life and death. And those stories are told within your walls.

The people and events of the stories told within you are determined by tarot deck and dice. You situate the stories on a variable timeline and within a map of the world you are slowly creating. Explore as many stories as often as you like. Then, when ready, tell your final story and show the Tavern as it stands.

At the center of all things, you sit. Around you, the town grows, shrinks, changes throughout time. Without fail, you stand. Even if your shell is demolished, you will be rebuilt. From a humble bower of leafed branches to a sprawling complex of kitchens, fires, and rooms, you endure.
